
The Titan model of workstations combine the performance of a high end workstation, with the horsepower of the NVIDIA Tesla C1060. With support for up to 8 GPUs, this system is ideal for the development of highly parallel, and highly computationally intensive applications within CUDA.
Utilizing a standard 5U chassis, Titan opens up opportunity to allow for more GPUs to be accessed through PCI Express in a single system for dense clustering with minimal hosts. This limits the networking bottlenecks, and allows larger datasets to be processed within a single machine.

Chipset
The independent system bus feature of the Intel® 5000P chipset allows each processor to communicate directly to the Memory Controller Hub over a dedicated 1066/1333MHz system bus. The chipset has a four-channel memory interface that supports up to 16GB of system memory.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
The front end SHB features the Intel® 82563EB Dual Port adapter that connects to the I/O Controller Hub and supports two high-speed 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet interfaces on LAN ports 1 and 2 of the SHB’s I/O bracket. RJ-45 connectors, located on the I/O bracket, provide the physical interface to the Ethernet network.
USB Interface
The front end SHB supports 4 high-speed USB 2.0 ports for data transfers up to 480Mbit/sec. The SHBs also support USB 1.1 devices for data transfers at 1.2 or 1.5Mbit/sec. Two USB 2.0 interface ports are located on the SHB’s I/O bracket. An on-board header supports an aditional two USB 2.0 interfaces.
PCI Express
All of the card slots on the backplane are PCI Express, x16 mechanical slots and can support x16, x8, x4 and x1 PCI Express cards. The bundled NVIDIA Tesla C870 devices are active on 6 of the 18 available PCI Express slots. The 6 cards are separated between 2 fan out switches. Cards 1 through 3 are located on 2 x8 and a x4 slot, and are fed through a single x8 link from the SHB. Cards 4 through 6 are also located on 2 x8 and a x4 slot, and are fed through a second x8 link from the SHB. There are also 2 additional slots on the backplane so support other PCI express devices, each with their own dedicated x4 link.

Operating system support is qualified on 2 grounds, general operating system testing, and support with CUDA and NVIDIA drivers. The following operating systems have been tested and certified to work with Titan:
