The Slipstream S4 personal supercomputer provides the ultimate in supercomputing performance to your desk-side. Slipstream S4 is a single socket, 4 GPU platform. At its core, it is powered by 4 NVIDIA Tesla C1060 GPUs on a high speed PCIe Gen2 bus.
Slipstream S4 Specifications
Main Processor
AMD Phenom X4
Co-Processors
The NVIDIA® Tesla™ C1060 transforms a workstation into a high-performance computer that outperforms a small cluster. This gives technical professionals a dedicated computing resource at their desk-side that is much faster and more energy-efficient than a shared cluster in the data center. The Tesla C1060 is based on the massively parallel, many-core Tesla processor, which is coupled with the standard CUDA C programming environment to simplify many-core programming.
The Slipstream S4 utilizes 4 Tesla C1060 GPUs to achieve an unparalleled 3.7 teraflops of computing horsepower.
Chipset
The NVIDIA nForce® 780a SLI® MCPs is one of the most feature rich chipsets utilized for AMD motherboards. The chipset supports high speed PCI Express Gen2 communications across the bus, as well as massive peripheral support and high definition audio.
PCI Express Gen2 Technology
The PCI Express bus is Gen2 rated, effectively doubling the data throughput over Gen1 PCI Express standards. The Slipstream S4 utilizes exclusively, the PCI Express Gen2 bus across all 4 Tesla C1060 GPUs installed. Each Tesla C1060 GPU is operating at PCI Express Gen2 x8 speeds, the effective equivalent of x16 Gen1, offering up to 8 GB/s of throughput.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
Slipstream S4 includes support for dual gigabit ethernet through the nForce 780a SLI chipset. This includes support for NVIDIA® FirstPacket™ technology which can allow preferred access to priority network services.
Preipheral Device Support
The nForce 780a SLI chipset allows for numerous peripheral devices to be utilized. This includes 12 USB 2.0 ports (2 front and 10 rear), front and rear audio with multi-channel support, 1 front and 1 rear Firewire 400 port, 1 front and 2 rear eSATA ports, as well as digital audio optical and coaxial outputs.
Operating Systems
Tycrid follows strict NVIDIA guidelines for approving operating system support, on top of our own guidelines. This includes having an operating system that installs without freezing or failing, as well as operating without crashes or error. As a core and very important requirement, the following operating systems will also be able to see all 4 Tesla C1060 GPUs installed in the workstation, as well as utilize them all within CUDA 2.0.
- Microsoft Windows XP Professional X64 Edition
- Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.2 x86_64
- CentOS 5.2 x86_64
